DODA, June 2: Police here today launched a special drive to save the green gold and has booked a number of timber smugglers besides seizing illicit timber in Indrian Bhata areas of Forest Dessa in Forest Division Doda.
Cops from Police Station Dessa led by Inspector Surinder Singh, SHO Police Station Dessa while on patrolling and area domination duty seized huge quantity of illicit timber from Indrian Bhata forest area of Dessa.
The illicit timber was found to have extracted by one Talib Hussain resident of Bhata Dessa after cutting down green standing trees illegally in forest area.
The accused person was absconding and his search was going on.
Cops also seized some tools from the spot which were used by the timber smugglers for extracting and sawing the wood.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom.
In this connection a case in FIR No. 04/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dessa and investigation started.
