Illicit timber seized

SRINAGAR, Jan 3: In an operation aimed at curbing illegal timber smuggling, police in Baramulla today seized illicit timber by arresting 3 accused persons involved in the commission of crime.
As per authorities, a police party intercepted a vehicle (Tata 207) carrying nine timber logs at Drung Crossing during naka checking.
“During questioning, it was revealed that the vehicle was transporting timber without the necessary permissions,” police said.
Subsequently, according to authorities, the vehicle along with the illicit timber has been seized and the individuals involved in the commission of crime have been arrested on the spot.
They have been identified as Mehraj Ahmad Khan son of Ab Majeed Khan resident of Nowgam Khag, Mohammed Amin Lone son of Ab Gaffar Lone resident of Drung and Owais Ahmad Parrey son of Ab Ahad Parrey resident of Soibugh Budgam.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 01/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and further investigation has been initiated,” police said.
