RAMBAN, Apr 25: Batote Forest Division seized illicit timber and booked several persons.
As per official spokesman, in order to tight noose on timber smugglers, a massive operation was launched by Batote Forest Division during April 2020 by constituting various teams for different locations under the supervision of Kuldeep Singh Divisional Forest Officer Batote and guidance of Sat Pal, Conservator of Forests Chenab Circle Doda.
After hectic efforts and on the basis of inputs from various sources, the teams managed to seize 303.72 cft of timber of deodar and kail and booked several persons.
The spokesman further informed that the timber thus seized has been brought to Timber Sale Depot Batote and entered in stock register.
The cases have been presented in the court of authorized officer Batote for disposal, the spokesman added.
