DODA, May 30: Police here today seized huge quantity of illicit timber in forest area of Marmat in Forest Division Range Doda and arrested the timber smuggler involved in the crime.
Acting on specific information through reliable sources, cops from Police Post Goha led by PSI Ankush Sharma, Incharge Police Post Goha seized illegally extracted timber in Forest Compartment No. 34 of Forest Range Marmat.
The illicit timber was extracted after falling green standing trees illegally in the forest area by timber smuggler Hidayatullah, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Behota Marmat who was arrested by police from the spot.
His associate Tanveer Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Behota Marmat is absconding whose search was going on.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom.
An FIR with number 114/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Doda in this regard and investigation started.
