DODA, Mar 7: Police here today seized huge quantity of illicit timber illegally dumped near the house of a smuggler, who has been booked and raids were being conducted to arrest him.
As per Police sources, a Police party from Police Station Gandoh led by Inspector Parvez Khanday during patrolling and area domination duty in Bathri, Tanta area of Tehsil Kahara detected huge damage caused to green trees.
Through reliable sources the Police learnt that one Shah Mohd, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Draman, Tanta has cut down the green standing Deodar/Far trees in Tanta forest illegally and has dumped huge quantity of sleepers near his house for selling purpose.
On this information cops rushed to spot, searched the area and found 150 Deodar/Far sleepers dumped near the house of timber smuggler.
A case in this regard has been registered in FIR number 09/2024 under relevant Sections of law at Police Station Gandoh and investigation started.
Doda Police has launched a special drive against timber, drug and bovine smugglers and has appealed to the general public to provide information, if any, regarding such illicit practices in their neighbourhood so that the culprits are booked and crime free atmosphere is built in the district.
