IMPARD organizes interactive session of NCGG officers with trainees

JAMMU, Apr 5: The J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPARD) organized an interactive session held by a team of high ranking officers from National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), New Delhi, here today, with the participants of Secretariat Assistants Training Course present under progress at IMPARD Srinagar.
Dr Reva Sharma, Director Training (J), welcomed the team of NCGG officers who included Professor Poonam Singh, Director, NCGG; Dr B S Bisht, Associate Professor and Dr A P Singh, Associate Professor.
Dr Poon Singh, Director, NCGG, said that NCGG has set up a Capacity Building Commission (CBC) whose job is to look after major activities of training. She further said that among the frontline functionaries of a Government, the Section Officers are the backbone of any Department because the work of various branches of a Department is carried out in its different Sections. He is the superintendent of the overall working of the Section. Section Officer responsible for ensuring that his subordinates deliver services to the public in an efficient and transparent manner, she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr A P Singh, Associate Professor, informed the trainee participants that the NCGG is a training institution under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). It has organised capacity building training programmes for thousands of officers from almost 30 countries including 1800 from Bangladesh Civil Services, 1000 civil servants from Maldives, and 200 Township/District Administrators from Myanmar. He said that the main focus of NCGG training programmes is to update civil servants who can deliver efficient, transparent, and public spirited governance.
Saurabh Bhagat, Director General, J&K IMPARD, spoke on the occasion. He told the trainee participants that J&K IMPARD would always be there to fulfill their training needs. He informed them that IMPARD trained 5000 frontline functionaries during the previous financial year and intends to training 5000 more this year, besides elected representatives of PRIs. He further informed that IMPARD also imparted RTI training to 2000 officers.
