JAMMU, Aug 31: Five people, including one person impersonating as an Army Colonel, were charge-sheeted by the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu (CBJ) today for allegedly orchestrating a job fraud of Rs 67 lakh.
Kulbinder Singh @ Vicky (impersonator), his brother Sunil Singh, and wife Bindiya Bhau, all residents of Village Deharan, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu, and Vishal Bhagat of Lale-Da-Bagh, Lower Barnai, Jammu, and Prem Paul of Haria Chak, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua, were charge-sheeted in case FIR number 28/2019 under sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 170, 171, 120-B of the RPC registered at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu, said a CBJ spokesperson.
He said the accused were booked on the complaint of one Mohinder Kumar of Shama Chak, Jhiri, Jammu.
Quoting the complaint lodged by the complainant, the Crime Branch spokesperson said that the accused Kulbinder Singh, who was dismissed from Indian Army, collected Rs 67 lakh from the gullible youth by promising them jobs in Indian Army and Military Engineering Services (MES) identifying himself as an Army Colonel.
“He even issued fake appointment orders in favour of the innocent youth after taking huge amount from them in lieu of jobs,” he said.
After initiating a preliminary verification by obtaining prior approval of the Crime Headquarters Jammu and Kashmir to conduct investigation into the matter, he said the allegations against the accused were prima-facie established in the PV and accordingly, a formal case was registered for in-depth investigation.
Followed by this, he said, relevant record including Rs 50000 was seized and statements of the witnesses were recorded under section 161 CrPC and 164 CrPC.
Scientific, circumstantial and other material evidence was also collected and the offences were accordingly proved against the prime accused Kulbinder Singh for luring and duping the innocent youth on the pretext of providing job to them in MES, and Indian Army, said the CBJ spokesperson.
Banking on the evidence collected, he said, a charge-sheet has been finally produced in the court of law for judicial determination against the accused for cheating the gullible youth of their hard-earned money.
