JAMMU, Feb 4: Nyay Yatra, which is organized by ‘Forum for Justice’ and originated from Rajghat on January 30 reached Jammu and held seminar at Government Degree College, Rajouri.
Interacting with media persons, Prof Raj Kachroo demanded the implementation of blue print of National Judicial Reforms Mission, 2009. A blue print, to make the changes in the existing Judicial System was formulated by National Mission for Judicial Reforms in a seminar conducted at the Vigyan Bhawan in 2009, he informed.
He added that in this seminar, Chief Justice of India, Bar Council, Ministry of Law and Law specialists, all unanimously proposed to implement it. Then suddenly, in the year 2011, the then Manmohan Singh Government refused to implement it, he said.
“When they asked why the agreement was dismissed, no answer was given. We are still waiting for it. The result of the wait is that we are doing a nationwide journey for justice. If no reforms are made in the future, it will take the shape of a movement”, he stated.
He said that another reason for the non-implementation of this proposal is the disinterest of the Bar Council and the advocates, adding that they due to their own vested interests neither want to implement this proposal nor do any change. He said that they will raise this issue in the course of the Nyay Yatra.
National Coordinator Praveen Patel while replying to a question said that people do not get justice in the country’s judicial system. Due to this, cases are on the rise in the courts, which is diminishing the hopes of the people in the judiciary, he added.
Prof Raj Kachroo, National Convener Pravin Patel, Subhash Katy and Sanath were present in the press conference.
