JAMMU, Jan 14: A meeting of Kashmiri migrants was held at Jammu today under the leadership of, Ramesh Chander Mahajan President, Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha in which issues of Kashmiri migrants were discussed and members also expressed serious concern over the failure of UT Government in restoring migrants’ properties and assets besides non implementation of J&K Migrants Immovable Property (Preservation Protection and Restoration of Distress Sale Act) 1997.
The meeting said the Financial Commissioner Revenue J&K /Div Commissioner Kashmir /Deputy Commissioners/ Tehsildars are the custodians of migrants properties in the Valley and they have to ensure their protection, However , these authorities have failed to act in accordance with the law, resulting in the failure to vacate the unauthorized illegal occupations and anti elements /encroachers taking advantage by grabbing land/properties including house/orchards /business established/temples that belong to the migrants. In this regards rightful owners have lodged their grievances for restoration of migrants properties and assets through new redressal system.
The meeting said approximately 6991 portal grievances and 4500 civil court cases are still pending , before the court of Divisional Commissioner, DCs/ District Magistrate and other civil court of Valley since 1990 for restoration of their land and properties.
