KATHUA, Nov 26: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has urged upon Lt Governor, J&K UT Girish Chandra Murmu to recommend to Govt of India for immediate acceptance and implementation of JPC report No. 183 submitted in both houses of Parliament on Dec 22, 2014 in respect of DPs of 1947 from POK and other categories, till a roadmap is prepared for their full and final rehabilitation which is being awaited from the last more than seven decades.
Interacting with the participants during meeting at Chhann Rorian in Kathua today, Gurdev Singh president demanded that Lt Governor should immediately recommend and stress upon the Central Govt for early acceptance and implementation of JPC Report to give them relief and its ratification in the current parliamentary session, till a final roadmap is prepared for their full and final rehabilitation taking into account their loss of lives and properties left in POK. He said that JPC Report was submitted in December 2014 in both the Houses of Parliament which is still pending.
He said that it is a matter of satisfaction for DPs that their rehabilitation has been legitimized by PM Modi by providing them a little sop of Rs 5.5 lakh to each DP family and hoped that he would do justice to DPs as their settlement is close to his heart as he claimed during an election tour in Jammu.
Deliberating upon the various DPs issue particularly, adequate compensation for left-out properties, reservation/ employment package for their wards, delimitation of their share of assembly seats, he said that it is sad and most regrettable that DPs were remained neglected and deprived of their due rights since decades due to power politics over J&K by Pakistan as well as previous Congress dispensation of India.
He appealed to LG to take cognizance of DPs rehabilitation issues on priority and should prepare a comprehensive roadmap as the department is under his direct control.
Others who spoke in the meeting included Netar Parkash, Capt Kundan Lal, Sarpanch Lekh Raj and Tirlok Singh Tara.
