Implement Mandal Commission report: OBC Youth Mahasabha

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 5: All J&K Youth OBC Mahasabha has demanded that Mandal Commission report be implemented in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
In a meeting of the Youth Mahasabha held here today, its president Mohd Yasin and chairman Joginder Angotra, strongly criticized the State Government for not implementing Mandal Commission report in the State. They said OBCs constitute major part of State population and they have been deprived of the benefit of reservation under Mandal Commission.
They pointed out that under the garb of ‘Backward Area’ certificate the people are being provided 23 % reservation benefit while majority of people from OBC category are being deprived. They termed it as conspiracy against the community.
Even the OBCs have no reservation in the State Assembly and Legislative Council, they maintained.
OBC Mahasabha leaders further alleged that OBC Development Board constituted established by State Government has become defunct and its output is ‘big zero’. It has miserably failed to project the 27 % reservation for the OBCs. Its vice-chairman and members are yes men of the Government and they have failed to plead the cause of the community. They demanded that this so called Board be dissolved.
It was decided in the meeting to take out `Mashal’ rally on October 2 from Ambphlla Chowk to Janipur in Jammu. More such rallies will be taken out at various places, they added.
