JAMMU, June 26: NSS unit of Government College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) organized a special awareness programme on “Plastic Waste Management” under the patronage of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal of the College.
The awareness program offered a platform to all students and faculty of the college to get aware about the segregation of dry and wet waste. The college has already signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IPCA as part of its duty to save the environment.
“As part of 10 kg Plastic Campaign our college collected and handed over 13 Kg plastic to IPCA for recycling”, Principal said, adding “the goal of this program was to understand the severity of the issue and stop the use of plastic”.
Ranveer Singh, Regional Manager IPCA said that plastic waste is a major challenge and it is the duty of every citizen to think about environment too.
Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO said that NSS volunteers are leaving no stone unturned to protect the environment by collecting plastic for recycling. The programme was attended by Prof Shapia Shameem, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shalini Rana, Prof Neeraj Verma, Dr Sushma Bala, Prof Anuradha Chowdhary, Prof Neeraj Verma and Prof Shalini Sharma.
