UDHAMPUR, Feb 25: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal to discuss issues for better implementation of Non Pesticides Management (NPM) project in block Chenani.
District Development Commissioner suggested to converge mushroom cultivation along with other livelihoods practices in the resource block and also asked Chief Agriculture Officer to provide technical inputs regarding the cultivation of mushroom to the Self Help Groups(SHGs) being developed under UMEED in Chenani.
Additional Mission Director JKSRLM gave brief account of the project through power point presentation. He briefed that Non Pesticides Management Project is an initiative to reduce the cost of cultivation by promoting agriculture without chemical pesticides and chemical fertilizers which would help to make agriculture economically viable without compromising on yields.
Among others the meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Additional Mission Director J&K State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Jammu, Dr. Arun Manhas, Chief Agriculture Officer and Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Udhampur.
