Thousands of mourners participate

JAMMU, Aug 9: An impressive procession of 10th Moharram (Ashura) was taken out in here from Ziyarat Peer Mitha under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia,Jammu with thousands of mourners across the different regions of JK UT participated in it to pay homage to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain the grandson of Prophet Mohammad.
A brief Majlis was delivered by Moulana Syed Ghulam Hussain Rizvi from Iran Cultural House. In his address he stressed upon the teachings of Imam Hussain highlighting the significance of the battle of Karbala in Islam.

After passing through the traditional route the procession culminated at Karbala complex Wazarat road where Majlis Sham-e-Ghariban was also delivered by Moulana Syed Ghulam Hussain Rizvi.
A procession was also taken out from New Plots by Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plot under the patronage of Shakeel Karbalai and merged with the main procession at Imam Bargah, Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.
On this day Imam Hussain and his 72 companions laid their lives and saved humanity and the values of Islam, battling against the tyranny of Yazid, the ruler and Caliph of Muslim Ummah at that time.
Addressing media, president of Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu Syed Amanat Shah said “It is our duty to spread the message of Imam Hussain that we should never bow down in front of the oppressor and always stand firm against the tyrant”. “Ashore gives a message to entire humanity that we should stand firm against the oppressor and never forego our responsibilities even though we need to sacrifice our self for the cause”, he added.
Prof. Sujat Khan, secretary Anjumam-e-Imamia, Jammu while speaking to media quoted that Karbala is not a battle between individuals but it’s a battle of ideologies. He further while quoting Rebar-e-Moazam Syed Ali Khamaenei said “If we understand this event (Ashura) to be a great event in History, and we place value upon it, this is because the remembrance of this event helps us to progress, to move forward, to follow the pointed path of Imam Hussain”.
Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist and member of Advisory Committee Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said “We are highly thankful to Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and the administration for their role and support during all the days of Moharram.
Vice president, Anjuman-e-Imamia Syed Afaq Hussain Kazmi said that the battle of Karbala is the only battle in the history in which the blood got success over the sword. He further added that we should propagate the teachings of Imam Hussain if we want to succeed in our future endeavors.
While delivering the vote of thanks Syed Ayaz Naqvi, joint secretary, Anjuman said “We are thankful to all organizations for extending their full cooperation and support during the procession by installing different stalls as refreshment for the mourners. We also extend thanks to Anjuman-e-Haidery, Anjumn-e-Hussaini, Kargil Colony Bathindi, All Ladakh Muslim Students Association Jammu (ALMSAJ), volunteers of Shaheed Muttahiri Library New Plots, administration of MESWL and people from Poonch, Rajouri, Gursai, Surankote, Mandi, Chanderkot, and Kashmir for showing exemplary discipline during the procession”, he added.
Anjuman-e-Imamia extended special thanks to various leaders of political parties, the religious and social organizations for their presence and support during the Moharram procession and made this event a peaceful and successful event. Moharram processions were also taken out in Poonch and Mandi.
