JAMMU, Sept 6: An impressive Moharram procession was taken out here, today on 7th day martyrdom of Shahzada-e-Qasim by Shia Sect of Muslims under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imammiya Jammu.
The Moharram procession started from the residence of Late Syed Mazhar Ali Shah. A large number of mourners drawn from different parts of Jammu wailing and beating their chests were reciting Nohas and Marsiahs enroute to pay tribute to Shehzada-e- Qasim.
Addressing the Majlis before the start of procession the Islamic scholars said that Shahzada–e-Qasim was one among those 72 martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of Islam in the battle of Karbala.

Moulana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi, secretary, Ullam-e-Hind, New Delhi while addressing the Majlis stressed upon the teachings of Prophet Mohammad and also highlighted the great sacrifice of Shehzada–e-Qasim for the sake of truth and righteousness. He further added that one can learn from the history of Karbala that how to be victorious while fighting against oppression. It is the only fight in which those who sacrificed every thing for sake of truth and righteousness ultimately became victorious. “When you are on the path of Allah no one force can oppress you’’, he added.
At Imam Bargah, New Plots the mourners offered Namaz-e-Magribain and participated in a Majlis that was organised by Anjuman-e- Haidery, New Plots which was addressed by Molana Ali Asgar Haidery from Mumbai. In his address Maulana said that we should follow the path of Imam Hussain.
Vice president, Anjuman-e-Imamia, Syed Afaq Hussain Qazmi while talking to media at the sidelights of the programme said that Karbala is a thought that cannot be deceived. He added that every scholar and historian mentioned this sacrifice of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions as one of the greatest sacrifice of the centuries. He further added that Mahatma Gandhi quoted that “I learned from Hussain how to achieve victory while being oppressed’’.
Prof Sujat Khan, secretary Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said “It is our duty to spread the message of Imam Hussain and why he sacrificed his whole family with his 72 companions in Karbala. We learned from Karbala that we should stand with oppressed., This is one of the greatest sacrifice in the history of Islam’’, he added.
He further added that “ We are highly thankful to the people from different regions like Rajouri, Poonch, Surankote, Chandekot, Gursai, Mandi, Loran, Kashmir, Kargil and Ladakh and organisations like Anjuman-e-Haidery, New Plots, Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi, ALMSAJ, AKSAJ and Shaheed Mutahri Library, New Plots, MEWSL and people of different faiths who have participated in the procession to pay tribute to Imam Hussain and all martyrs of Karbala.
