JAMMU, Mar 30: St Peter’s Catholic Church, Prem Nagar celebrated Good Friday by taking out an impressive procession.
The members of the catholic community participated in the procession, which started from Shaheedi Chowk and after passing through Residency Road, culminated at St Peter’s Catholic Church Prem Nagar.

The procession depicted the final journey of Jesus Christ to the mount Calvary in Jerusalem, where he was crucified two thousand years ago. The journey was enacted by Sumit Teji of Prem Nagar. The important scenes from the Bible regarding the crucifixion of Jesus were presented in the form of tableaux during the procession.
Good Friday is being observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day, Christians commemorate the passion, suffering and death of Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. Many Christians sped this day in fasting, prayer, repentance and meditation on the agony and suffering of Christ on the cross.
Special prayers for the prosperity and peace in Jammu and Kashmir were offered during the occasion by Rev Father Jose Vadakkel and Rev Father Mohinder Paul.
A special prayer service was conducted in the church this afternoon commemorating the passion and death of Jesus Christ. Thousands of devotees gathered at the church to pray and seek blessings from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Meanwhile, a religious procession was taken out the Christian community from Beershoba church, which passed through various parts of the district. Priest of the church threw light on the importance of the day and asked the gathering to follow the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ.
Good Friday was also celebrated at Saint Antony’s Catholic Church Reasi under the leadership of Fr Joby.
