JAMMU, Aug 14: Impressive Shoba Yatra was taken on the eve of Krishana Janamashtami here, today.
Jointly organized by Sanatan Dharam Sabha (SDS) and Dharmarth Trust in association with various religious and social roganisations, the Shoba Yatra started from historical Raghunath Mandir where from the sawari of Lord Krishna and Radha was taken out in a fully decorated chariot in a traditional way.

Large number of jhankis organized by various social and religious organizations depicting different aspects of Lord Krishna’s life on fully decorated tractor trolleys and open vehicles formed the part of Shoba yatra.
Thousands of people drawn from different parts of Jammu city participated in Shoba Yatra and paid their obeisance to Lord Krishna whose sawari was taken out in a traditional way from Raghunath Mandir.
The Lord Krishna’s rath was pulled by the devotees attired in traditional Dogra dresses, which was led by horse riders depicting the age old Dogra culture.
Earlier, over 20 Jhankis were taken out from Sanatan DharamSabha (SDS) Geeta Bhawan after performing traditional pooja by the members of SDS and other dignitaries. The Jhankis were led by a traditional rath from Purani Mandi temple under the supervision of Mahant Rameshwar Dass Ji. After passing via Shalamar, Kanak Mandi and Residency Road these Jhankis joined the main Shoba Yatra taken from Raghunath Mandir at Raghunath Chowk.
The rush of devotees swelled after reaching Raghunath Chowk as there was a beeline of people from both sides of road to have a glimpse of Lord Krishna and pay their obeisance to Lord.
On entire Shoba Yatra route the devotees were standing in large numbers to greet the Yatra and sawari of lord. Besides, them a large number of people were seen standing on roof tops of houses and shops to greet Shoba Yatra. They were seen showering flowers on the Shoba Yatra. The entire Shoba Yatra route was fully decorated by the devotees, Bazar and Mohalla Associations.
In addition to this the people had erected welcome gates enroute to greet the Shoba Yatra besides the stalls were installed in each and every bazaar to offer fruits, drinking water and prashad to the devotees participating in the Yatra.
The Shoba Yatra which started from Raghunath Bazar passed via Purani Mandi, Link road, Jain Bazar, Dhunthli Bazar, Pakka Danga, Raj Tilak Road, Purani Mandi and later culminated at Raghunath Mandir in the evening.
Earlier pooja was also performed in the Raghunath temple by the members of Dharmarth Trust and other devotees. The devotees enroute were dancing to drum beasts and singing bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna. The SDS has also this time organized a traditional dance of Radha Krishna during the Shoba Yatra which added further charm to it.
Impressive Shoba Yatra was also taken out in Poonch City on the eve of Janam Ashtami today in which thousands of devotees with over 50 Jhanktis participated.
Reports reaching here said that it was ever biggest procession held in the city on the eve of Janam Ashtami in last 70 years in which devotees besides Poonch City from the villages of Hulas, Dara, Mangar, Khenter, Nangali, Dunjas, Khari, Goelpur, Ajot, Malti and several other areas of district participated.
The procession started from Geeta Bhawan Poonch and it was organized by Sanatan Dharam Sabha Poonch. After passing through various markets and ancient temples of Poonch it culminated at Geeta Bhawan late in the evening.
