JAMMU, Apr 8: An impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out on the occasion of Ramnavmi here, today.
The procession started from Parade Ground and it was joined by Swari of Lord Rama from holy Raghunath temple after performance of traditional Pooja -Archana by the devotees there.
The Shoba Yatra was organized by Dharmarth Trust in close association with Sanatan Dharam Sabha (SDS), Jammu and other religious organizations including Purani Mandi Temple, Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj, Dewana Mandir, Dharmik Yuval Mandli and other religious bodies.
All the city routes were fully decorated by the Mohalla Welfare Committees and Bazaar Associations to greet the Shoba Yatra.
Scores of Jhankis depicting different aspects of Lord Rama’s life formed the part of Shoba Yatra. The devotees enroute greeted the Shoba Yatra and paid obeisance to Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Laxman who were taken out on a fully decorated chariot.
The devotees attired in traditional dresses were accompanying the Shoba Yatra. They were chanting religious hymns, singing bhajans in praise of the Lord and dancing to the tune of beating drums enroute.
As the Shoba Yatra left the Raghunath Mandir the devotees swelled in thousands who were waiting enroute to have darshan of Lord Rama.
The people were seen waiting in queues enroute while others had mounted on roof tops to greet the Shoba Yatra. The devotees were seen showering flowers on Lord Rama’ s Swari from roof tops at various places.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the Shoba Yatra and traffic on the city routes was diverted from other sides to avert hassle free yatra.
A big contingent of police was also accompanying the Shoba Yatra to avert any untoward incident.
The Shoba Yatra after leaving from Raghunath Mandir left via Residency Road, Shaheedi Chowk, Kanak Mandi, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Chowk Chabutra, Link Road, Jain Bazar, Panjtirthi, Pacca Danga, Parade, Raj Tilak Road and later culminated at City Chowk.
The people enroute had installed stalls to offer soft drinks, prashad and fruits to devotees accompanying Shoba Yatra.
