RAJOURI, Mar 29: Former MLC and senior Congress leader, Ravinder Sharma, has drawn the attention of the Government to the need for developing and providing better facilities for pilgrims at the ancient Meenka Mahadevsthan in Sunderbani. Sharma, accompanied by a group of senior Congress leaders and social activists, visited the holy site of Meenka Mahadevsthan, where they paid their respects and interacted with local religious and social activists, as well as pilgrims.
During the visit, the local community expressed their gratitude to Sharma for his contributions to the area, including the construction of the Dhok Banyad Meenka road, a hall at the Devsthan funded through his MLC funds, and the establishment of a health center in Meenka. However, they also called for improvements to enhance the facilities for pilgrims at the Devsthan.
Prominent leaders such as Rajesh Jamwal, Ajit Singh, Zone President Sub, Kashmir Singh, Tilak Raj, Om Parkash and Sanjay Sharma joined Sharma on the visit.
Sharma emphasized the community’s demand for improved facilities and urged the Government to create amenities for pilgrims under the pilgrim tourism initiative, especially given the significant investments being made to promote tourism and pilgrimage. He specifically called for the construction of a Yatra hall, kitchen shed and dormitories to accommodate short stays, all of which he believes will help boost economic activity in the region.
