UDHAMPUR, Mar 9: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh Jamwal instructed all the investigating and supervisory officers to improve the quality of investigation so that conviction rate could be raised especially in heinous nature cases. He also instructed the officers to be polite and sympathetic especially in public dealings.
IGP stated this during a meeting of Gazetted and Non Gazetted officers of district Udhampur held in the police lines here.
During the meeting, SSP Udhampur gave a detailed briefing regarding prevailing security situation in the district and various challenges being faced by the police. A review of pending under investigation cases was also carried out in the meeting.
Earlier, Dr SD Singh held a meeting with officers and jawans in District Police Lines here today. IGP Jammu Zone listened to the problems put forth by the officers and jawans and assured them that their genuine problems will be addressed appropriately.
IGP Jammu Zone also conducted inspection of all the units of police at DPL Udhampur and issued on the spot instructions so that necessary improvement will be made. He also inspected newly constructed building in DPL which proposed to be used as drug de-addiction centre in District Udhampur. He instructed the officers to ensure adequate facilities in the upcoming de-addiction centre.
A meeting with the prominent citizens of district Udhampur was also held at conference hall of DC Office Udhampur. Various issues were highlighted during the meeting including drug de-addiction, problem of traffic congestion and road accidents etc.
IGP assured that various steps would be taken to root out the problems of drug addicts. He also said that district police along with traffic police will ensure smooth functioning of traffic in Udhampur district. He called upon the people to ensure brotherhood and harmony and help police in curbing various kinds of crimes and social evil in society.
IGP also launched “Operation Shuddh Devik”, an initiative of District Police Udhampur to fight against drugs. He also distributed medallions’ to the match officials of 12 different games recently held at Udhampur.
