JAMMU, Apr 19: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh today chaired a meeting of senior officers of Power Development Department (PDD) to review the performance of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister impressed upon the officers to take all necessary steps to prevent frequent damages to the distribution system and transformers. He also directed the concerned for immediate reporting of the same to the higher authorities for immediate replacement of the transformers to avoid unnecessary inconvenience to the people.
Dr Singh also directed PDD to lay emphasis on the recovery of revenue which is the major issue and in this regard he exhorted upon the concerned officers to frame inspection squads and conduct vigorous inspections to check the AT&C losses which was presently very high.
Various other issues which were discussed in detail during the meeting were HT\LT improvement scheme, review of APRDP, regularization status of unregistered consumers, establishment of meter testing labs, performance of DDUGJY and IPDS schemes, status of metering in government departments etc.
Dr Singh further directed the officers to work in a coordinated way to achieve the desired results and also said that for the dedicated and high performers suitable rewards will be given in future so that best possible services will be provided to the consumers. He also stressed on PDD authorities to be sensitive towards the grievances of the people and make efforts to address issues especially pertaining to uninterrupted supply of electricity.
He also said that it is the duty of the Government to provide all basic amenities like uninterrupted supply of electricity as the summer season is approaching and to provide the best service the department must take necessary steps to prevent the damages of transformers   and curb the practices like theft/misuse of electricity.
Earlier, Principal Secretary PDD Sundeep Kumar Nayak apprised the Minister about the  compliance status  on instructions given by the him on March 9, 2015 in which Dy CM instructed the PDD authorities to reduce the aggregate Technical and Commercial losses, to prevent the damages of transformers, make possible ways to replace damaged transformers on time, to take all possible means to boost revenue in the power sector etc  and informed that every effort will be made to provide best possible services to the people.
Dr Singh also assured his full support to the officers of the department and also assured that their genuine issues raised by them during the meeting will also be looked into.
