MENDHAR, Jan 11: In-camera statement of gang-rape victim hailing from Kalaban village of Mendhar tehsil, was recorded after 14 days of the incident by the Judge at the local court here today.
A senior official from district administration, told the Excelsior that Munsiff Mendhar, Parveen Pandoh recorded the statement of the victim (Middle aged widow), in presence of advocate, Ms Hasrat Parwaz. Investigation Officer, Sub Inspector M R Malik represented Police in the case.
It took about half an hour to the Judge to record the statement of the gang rape victim. As per directives from the top Judges in the Judiciary, in-camera statement of the victim was recorded. The victim said to have revealed the entire episode to the Judge and also highlighted the role of local police and medical staff.
It is pertinent to mention here that the victim was allegedly gang rapped by three youth of Kalaban area on the evening of December 28 when she was returning home in a passenger vehicle. The police shifted the victim for Medical examination in the afternoon, the next day. One accused was arrested in this connection and later released, on the plea that medical report of rape was negative. The victim then approached Chief Justice, Governor, State Human Rights Commission and the State Women Commission for justice.
