Apsara Road, Rajouri Bus Stand among others to have facility

JAMMU, Feb 13: Out of 37 locations where the Government is going to construct ‘Aspirational Toilets’ in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, 25 have been finalised by the concerned authorities and few of these are at Apsara Road in Gole Market area of Gandhi Nagar in Jammu, Amarnath Yatri Niwas in Jammu and at Rajouri Bus Stand while the construction work on these facilities will start soon.

A total of 375 seats will be placed for these special toilets which will ensure all the latest facilities.
Some more locations where these high-end premium toilets will be constructed are at Pul Doda in district Doda, at Ramban Bus Stand, at Kunjwani in Jammu district, at Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Akhnoor and Bari Brahmana, at Tulip Garden in Srinagar, near Ski Slope Gulmarg, at Wazir Bagh in Anantnag etc.
When contacted, Managing Director (MD) Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Urban, J&K, Dr. Devansh Yadav, who is also Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), informed that the 375 number is basic and it may further increase depending upon the need after taking a note of various factors.
“Locations for the Aspirational Toilets have been finalised and only some paper work is left after which the construction work is expected to start within a week,” he informed adding that equal number of toilets will be distributed between the Jammu and the Kashmir divisions.

The Aspirational Toilets will be provided by SBM in Jammu and Kashmir and these special toilets will cover all the ULBs and tourism places of the UT.
These toilets will be high-end facilities having solar power backup and it will be a paid facility with special features like touchless flushing.
Sources informed that there will be separate rooms for men and women at these toilets apart from the facilities like fan, ceiling light, hand-wash, hand-drying and all other things which one finds in the toilets of big luxurious hotels.
They further said that these places of easing will be compliant for elderly people, children, women and Divyangs and these facilities will comply with all the latest guidelines set by the concerned authorities.
“These toilets will also have warm water facilities at snow bound and other cold areas,” they maintained.
It is pertinent to mention here that after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A from J&K on August 5, 2019, the Union Government is going for unprecedented developments in J&K and after the start of emission free e-buses, people of J&K are going to have the high-end Aspirational Toilets.
Maintenance, upkeep and other related works at these toilets will be outsourced wherein the empanelled person/agency (to whom the work would be outsourced) will also be allowed to run ATM or other facilities there and cleanliness along with hygiene at these toilets has to be properly maintained and ensured at all the times by the empanelled person/ agency.
