SRINAGAR, Feb 26: With heavy rainfall from past few days, scores of residential colonies and important road crossings remained inundated here.
The plight of many residential localities was even worse than the commercial hub including Usmanabad Colony, Mustafaabad, Shalteng and HMT in the outskirts of city.
Even though the rains stopped on early morning, however, the water logging threw life out of gear in many residential colonies of Srinagar.
The situation reached to a level that scores of families left their house and shifted to safer places. “The authorities are sleeping over the serious issue, despite facing last year’s fold fury that wrecked havoc,” said Aabid Ahmad.
He said children, elderly people and women are worst hit, as they can’t move out of houses.
Reports said that water also entered into many houses forcing inhabitants to migrate in Usmanabad Colony and other neighbouring areas of the city out skirts.
The inhabitants demanded timely action from the authorities to provide relief to them.
