JAMMU, Jan 21: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) held a meeting at Sunderbani under the chairmanship of Capt (retd) Balwant Raj in which Prof Kali Dass general secretary of the Union was the chief guest.
The meeting while highlighting the demands of the OBCs in the State expressed grave concern over the non implementation of 27 percent reservation for OBCs in the State as granted by Mandal Commission.
The meeting made an appeal to Prime Minster seeking justice for the OBCs of the State by implementing the Mandal Commission recommendations.
It said the J&K is the only State which has not implemented the recommendations leaving the members of the OBC community in a lurch.
It appealed the PM that the implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations be included in CMP of BJP and PDP so that the hapless people belonging to OBC category can seek justice.
The meeting also expressed concern over the failure of the previous coalition of PDP-BJP in not appointing the Vice chairman of the OBC Board in the State under a deliberate move. It said the OBCs constitute 60 percent of State’s population and they be given their due share of 27 percent reservations.
The meeting criticized the BJP for its failure in fulfilling the promise and coming to the expectations of OBCs in the State.
Anil Kumar, Kasturi Lal, Kuldeep Raj, Capt (retd) Balwant Raj, Master Sain Dass, HM Sandokh Chand, Anil Kumar and others attended the meeting.
