It looks good to hear that there has taken place an increase in the production of power to the extent of 45% during the last five years if the words of the CM are to be believed. It also sounds nice to claim that the state was fast heading towards self sufficiency in the power sector.
He also expected the state to produce as much as 9000MW power within 5 to 6 years as a result of which by exporting power, the economic condition of the state shall improve. Such news has been there very often in respect of tall claims by the government but on the ground there seems to be no visible impact especially in Jammu where hardly any day passes when people do not take to streets because of disruption in the electric supply due to unscheduled cuts, burning of transformers, low voltage etc. A lot is needed to be done in power sector and merely promises and claims cannot light our houses and run our fans .
