Increasing air pollution

Sir,
It has reference to the news item “Air Pollution choking both capital cities of J&K” published in DE on 03 May 2016. Very sad news for the people of both the cities that these cities have crossed the prescribed limits of air pollution. Once upon a time, Tokya and Dehli were in limelight for increased pollution level. Now it’s turn of Jammu. Increasing number of automobiles, no plantation in and around the cities, industrial areas near city area etc. are the some of the main causes of increased level of air pollution. Same situation is with water bodies. While constructing four lane road from Jammu to Pathankot and from Jammu to Udhampur, large number trees were cut down but in their place no new plants were planted. Forest department must look into this matter. There are certain measures to check this problem. The Government., various NGOs and people should take part in plantation drive, there should be check on no. of automobiles in the name of a person, govt. should introduce CNG which is regarded as clean and green fuel and diesel operated vehicles should be banned in both the cities. It is not bad to introduce odd-even formula like Dehli. Otherwise it will be too late to curb this menace.
Yours etc….
