Independence Day celebrated

JAMMU, Aug 18: Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and zeal.
The 69th Independence Day was celebrated at the official residence of the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice N Paul Vasantha Kumar by hoisting the National Flag at Ambphalla. The function was attended by the CRPF personnel, J&K Police Security Wing, staff of the Estates Department as well as the personal staff and officers. After hoisting the national flag, high tea was arranged for all those who attended the flag hoisting function.
Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Government Higher Secondary School Malothi where Principal of the Institution Sudesh Kumar Raina unfurled the National Flag and took salute of the parade, in which children from different schools of the area participated. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students depicting the diverse cultural heritage of the country.
Government High School, Mera Mandrian celebrated Independence Day. Surinder Lal Bhagat, Tehsildar, Mera Mandrian hoisted the National Flag, followed by cultural programme. In the end, Suresh Pawar, Headmaster of the school presented vote of thanks.
A colourful function was organized at Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, RS Pura to celebrate Independence Day. Kewal Krishan, president, Lions Club, RS Pura hoisted the National Flag in presence of Ved Parkash, retd ZEO. Students displayed cultural items and sang patriotic songs.
Independence Day was celebrated at Chinore Farms, Agriculture Department. Manager of the Farms NK Mishra hoisted the National Flag in presence of large number of people. He also threw light on the importance of the day.
Shastri Nagar Welfare Forum (West) and Morning Walkers Association, Shastri Nagar jointly celebrated 69th Independence Day. Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Uppal, President unfurled the tricolour in the Shastri Nagar Floriculture Park in presence of large number of people. Flag hoisting was followed by National Anthem.
A function was organized in the premises of Zeastha Devi Shrine Zeathyar, Srinagar by Zeastha Devi Prabandhak Committee (ZDPC) to celebrate Independence Day. The National Flag was unfurled by President, ZDPC in presence of large number of people. A cultural programme was also organized by the Committee.
Tawi Welfare Society, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm in Tawi Island at Apna Van, Village Sure Chack. The National Flag was hoisted by the President of the Society, followed by patriotic song.  Besides, members of the Society, large number of local people participated in the function.
