JAMMU, Aug 17: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor in various educational institutions and localities of Jammu.
In Bathindi area of Jammu, BJP State vice president hoisted National Flag in the presence of hundreds of people including children, youth and elders of the vicinity, who together recited National Anthem.
The celebrations of Independence day was also held in District Jail Udhampur. The function started with hoisting of Tricolour by Superintendent Jail Harish Kotwal, who was presented guard of honour by CRPF personnel. A splendid cultural programme was presented by the Jail inmates.
The I-Day was celebrated at Sainik School Nagrota with great patriotic spirit and fervour. The celebration was marked by a crisp ceremonial parade led by the School Cadet Captain, Cadet Akash Thakur at Major Somnath Sharma (PVC) Stadium of the school. Captain (IN) A Muthuraman, Principal unfurled the tricolour and delivered an inspiring speech to the gathering.
The Tricolour was also hoisted at Jagti in Nagrota area of Jammu amid raising of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogans by the patriotic Kashmiri people. Hundreds of people assembled there to pay their tributes to freedom fighters and distributed sweets among each other.
To celebrate the occasion, All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee organized a function at Jagti Township, where the National Flag was unfurled and a cultural programme was presented by the children and women of the Township.
Government Higher Secondary School, Treva celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour. Students presented a variety of cultural items on the occasion. Principal R G Dogra hoisted the National Flag and spoke on the significance of the day.
Kailash Nagar Welfare Society, Talab Tillo, Jammu also organized a flag hoisting ceremony at Kailash Nagar under the presidentship of Ankush Abrol, who unfurled the Tricolour in the presence of all members of the society, besides other citizens.
The National Flag was also hoisted near Badri Nath Shiv Temple, New Plot, Jammu by the Temple Committee president, Parshotam Abrol. Other committee members, traders of the area and local people were present on the occasion.
