Independence Day celebrated with zeal, enthusiasm

JAMMU, Aug 16: Various Central Government organizations celebrated the 67th Independence Day with fervour and enthusiasm at their respective office complexes here yesterday.
Income Tax Department organized a function at Aayakar Bhawan here in which National Flag was hoisted by A K Thatai, Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu. Despite heavy downpour a large number of officers and staff members were present to pay their respect to the National Flag. Income Tax offices at Srinagar, Anantnag, Udhampur and Kathua also held similar functions to celebrate the day.
POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System-II celebrated 67th Independence Day with patriotism and enthusiasm. Flag hoisting and cultural programmes were organized at all its establishments across the region. J P Singh, Executive Director, NRTS-II unfurled National Tricolour at Rgional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan as a chief guest. In another function at SOS Children Village Channi Rama, General Manager (Incharge Projects ) S K Sharma unfurled the National Flag.
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) celebrated the Day at NHPC Regional Office Complex, Narwal, Jammu in which large number of Corporation employees and CISF personnel participated. The Tricolour was hoisted by Regional Director S Kalagaonkar, who while addressing on the occasion recalled the martyrs of freedom and advised the employees to work hard with dedication for progress and prosperity of the Nation. Sweets were distributed among the employees.
Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated 67th Independence Day of the country at its Frontier Headquarters here with lot of zeal and enthusiasm as many functions were organized on the occasion. IG BSF S S Tomar hoisted the National Flag at BSF Stadium, Paloura in the presence of officers and jawans. In the premises of BSF School Paloura children presented a colourful cultural programme in the memory of the martyrs. The Independence Day was also celebrated by jawans depoloyed on border and LoC with equal fervour and enthusiasm.
The Independence Day was celebrated by NABARD officers and staff members at Jammu with full fervour. The Chief General Manager Dr B G Mukhopadhyay unfurled the National Flag and recounted the supreme sacrifices of our soldiers on the border for protecting the territorial integrity of the country. He reiterated that even though political freedom has been attained by our countrymen, we have to work hard for realizing the economic freedom of our farmers and SHG women.
Pir Panjal Brigade also celebrated the Independence Day with great zeal and traditional fervour. Several functions were held at different places under Pir Panjal Brigade3 Area of responsibility. A cultural programme was organized at ASHA school, Gulmarg in which Gujjar and Bakerwals of the area also attended. The students of Army Goodwill School Boniyar expressed their patriotic sentiments through their performances.
The 67th Independence Day was celebrated at Jammu Airport with great gaiety and fervour. Director Airport Ramesh Kumar hoisted the National Flag. Superintendent of Police JKP (AHJ), Ashok Sharma, Station Managers of all the airlines, staff of Airport Authority, JKP and CRPF were also present.
Braving odd weather Independence Day was celebrated by Army at Government High School Bagga in Mahore area. Children had gathered from Chakli, Gulabgarh, Gulgul, Agsi Tuksan and Dandihala villages of Mahore tehsil. National Flag was hoisted by senior Army Officer of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located at Bagga.
In an effort to further strengthening the ties between Awaam and the Army, 197 Medium Regiment (Kargil) bolstered the existing national spiritsby inviting people of different genre to come together in harmony and be a part of Independence Day celebrations at Panzgam village in Kupwara district which were held with full splendour and fervour associated with the occasion.
Principal, Resident Commissioner of J&K Gover-nment, New Delhi, KB Aggarwal, unfurled the National Flag at Jammu and Kashmir House at Prithvi Raj Road (New Delhi) on the occasion of 67th Independence Day. A contingent of J&K Armed Police presented the guard of honour. The ceremonial function was attended by the officers and officials of the State Government posted at New Delhi.
A function to celebrate the occasion of Independence Day was also held in the Town Hall premises of Jammu Municipal Corporation. JMC Comm-issioner, KL Khajuria, presided over the function and unfurled the national Flag in the presence of other officers and staff members. In his address, he extended his heartiest greetings to the people of the State.
Independence Day was also celebrated in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal (Jammu), where a cultural programme was organized for the jail inmates. Superintendent of the Jail, Javid Masood Fazili, hoisted the National Flag. On the occasion, the jail inmates displayed their talent in poetry, singing, dancing and cultural activities. Bhara Khana was also organized for the inmates.
District Jail, Jammu, also celebrated the occasion with great fervor. The Tricolour was hoisted by Superintendent of the Jail, Dinesh Sharma in the presence of Assistant Commandant, CRPF. A colourful programme was also displayed by the jail inmates. Sweets were distributed among the staff and jail inmates. Bhara Khana was also organized for the jail inmates.
The National Flag was also unfurled at Block Head-quarters, Bhalwal (Jammu) by Block development Officer, Bhalwal, Aijaz Qaiser, to celebrate 67th Independence Day. SDPO Akhnoor, Mohd Rayess Bhat, Dr Ashok Kumar, BMO, Bhalwal and many others were present on the occasion.
