JAMMU, Oct 31: Three independent BDC Chairpersons of the Nagrota Assembly segment today called on Ex-MLA, Devender Singh Rana and attributed their success to deeply ingrained secular ethos and the spirit of togetherness, nurtured and sustained over the years.
Ch Rehmat Ali, Chairperson BDC, Nagrota, Reena Thappa, Chairperson BDC, Dansal, and Sharifan Bibi, Chairperson BDC, Mathwar, after taking the oath, straightway drove to the residence of Rana and pledged to work for upliftment and welfare of the people.
Rana hoped that they will come to the expectations of the people, who reposed their unflinching faith in them and work towards development of their blocks with a sense of commitment and sincerity of purpose. He said though the National Conference did not participate in these elections yet the historic role of the party in strengthening democracy at grass roots level cannot be undermined.
“We have always believed that the people were masters of their own destiny in democratic polity”, Rana said, adding that election of two ladies in the three councils is an encouraging sign of women empowerment. He exhorted them to keep public interest above everything else and ensure that benefits of various schemes percolate down to the targeted segments of rural populace.
Expressing gratitude to Rana for his selfless and relentless efforts towards development of Nagrota segment, first as MLC and later as MLA, Ch Rehmat Ali said that his spirit of dedication will always motivate them to carry forward his mission of transforming the constituency on modern lines.
He said the vehement support extended to them by the electors during the recently held BDC elections is a shining example of inclusiveness, which is deep rooted across the constituency. The harmony and tranquillity prevailing in Nagrota is source of inspiration for all, he said, adding that this uniqueness will be a guiding force for all those in public life to work for making the constituency a better place to live in.
