JAMMU, Sept 28: Independent candidate Jayesh Gupta, contesting from the Bahu Assembly constituency, has ramped up his election campaign with a massive rally organized today in Bahu Fort area.
Addressing the gathering, Jayesh Gupta appealed to the voters for a “new beginning” and a break from what he described as years of stagnation and empty promises by the ruling BJP. He took aim at the BJP for what he called their pattern of misleading the public, citing their implementation of smart meters that led to inflated electricity bills, and promise to waive electricity dues up to Rs 1 lakh as “last-minute gimmicks” intended to win votes.
“The BJP, which is indirectly controlling the administration of Jammu and Kashmir through the Lieutenant Governor’s office, has spent the last decade imposing burdens on the poor and middle class,” Gupta said. He pointed to the imposition of property taxes, the installation of smart meters, and the continuous rise in taxes as evidence that the BJP has neglected the real needs of the people. “Now, just before elections, they are offering these ‘lollipops’ of relief, but the people of Bahu will not be deceived,” he added.
Gupta also expressed concerns over rising unemployment, frequent water and power shortages, poor road infrastructure, and the overall lack of development in Bahu constituency. He stressed that the major parties have failed to bring tangible improvements to the area despite being in power for years.
Calling for change, Jayesh urged the electorate to vote for him by pressing the Gas Cylinder symbol on the EVM, promising to work tirelessly for the development of Bahu and to serve as the voice of the marginalized. “It’s time for a new face, new energy, and real progress,” he concluded.
