Lashkar involved in Amarnath yatra terror attack: IGP

SRINAGAR:  Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was responsible for the attack on a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims from Gujarat in which seven yatris, including five women, were killed and 19 others  wounded last night in Anantnag, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Munir Ahmad Khan said here.

     He further claimed that the attack was carried out on the direction of  Pakistani militant Ismail. He said five to six militants were involved in the attack.

    Last night, Mr Khan said the bus came under cross-fire when the militants attacked a CRPF and Police picket.

     However, the militant outfit has denied that militants of the group were involved in the attack.

   Meanwhile, a high-level central team is arriving here today to review the overall security situation, particularly with regard to Amarnath pilgrimage, in the Kashmir valley. (AGENCIES)
