India-Bangladesh come closer in ties

Enlarging and broad basing its committed policy to strengthen ties with immediate neighbours, India has been very particular to cement its ties with Bangladesh in more pronounced terms. Why not, both the countries have much to go in to cherish and value the 1970 era and thereafter when this country had to bear extraordinary brunt of the offshoots of the Pakistani brutalities on Bengali population then forming East Pakistan and India’s contribution both diplomatic, military and financial towards Bengali people in their fight for their rights and for an independent state. Various sectors and areas are, therefore, attempted to be cooperated in mutually for both countries’ benefits and as a landmark decision to restore the rail link between the two countries which was snapped in 1965 war by Pakistan thrust on India, new chapter of mutual relations has been opened. Not only this, on the eve of the Vijay Diwas (Victory Day), the 50th anniversary year of India’s victory over Pakistan in 1970 which resulted in the birth of Bangladesh, seven pacts were signed between the two countries. Needless to add, India’s Vijay Diwas coincided with Bijoy Dibosh, meaning the same Victory Day. India’s triumphant stand on the concepts of peace and fighting exclusive and extremist ideologies received a shot in arm by an inauguration of digital exhibition on Mujibur Rehman and Mahatma Gandhi to showcase the life and legacies of the two iconic leaders.
