Appeals industry, media to promote StartUps

JAMMU, Feb 19: Maintaining that India is emerging the fastest growing economy in the world, Union Minister in PMO with Independent charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi India has made a huge quantum jump in the global benchmarks.
While addressing a function as chief guest of ‘Big Impact Awards- 2023’ at Hari Niwas here this evening, Dr Jitendra Singh said world is celebrating the India’s business today and is acknowledging that this is the golden era of India under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The Union Minister said that India has come up to the global parameters as country’s economy is growing by seven percent per year. “We jumped 40 steps in global economy from 80th position to 40th.
Giving all credit to PM Modi for this drastic and rapid progress of country, he said “During COVID world was looking towards India that it can’t manage the pandemic which will prove disastrous for the country but ours is the only country in the world which contained COVID successfully”.
Dr Jitendra Singh said International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reported that world is looking towards India as a bright spot now that gives self esteem to countrymen. Highlighting the progress made by India and its excellent growth rate, he said “It is a matter of rejoice and great satisfaction for the entire country that we have taken over UK in economic growth which ruled us for 200 long years.”
He said in all sectors the country is leading at present and India has emerged exporters in Defense. “We are exporting mobiles which earlier were being imported from foreign countries”.
He said though Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had given the concept of Khadi, Narendra Modi has made it a designing item with country earning a turnover of one lakh crore this year.
Dr Jitendra Singh said India ranked third in the Startup ecosystem having more than 90,000 Start-Ups from 250 in 2014 with 100 unicorns. He regretted that the Startups did not pick up so rapidly in J&K where the number is less than 2000. This is because of mindset of the people who are still after the Government jobs.
The Union Minister, while seeking the support of Industry leaders and media persons in this regard, appealed them to come forward and promote StartUps in J&K. Dr Jitendra Singh asked the youth to come out of Government job mindset and take advantage of Modi schemes so that the J&K too can become the part of India’s success story.
He regretted that the people of this region are still lagging behind and referred to recent programme held at Udhampur town under Khadi where Rs 50,000 crore subsidy was distributed among the beneficiaries but all of the Self Help Groups were from Valley as no one from this region had applied.
He said gone are the days as India is now exporting toys, dolls, motor cars which the country was earlier importing from Korea and China. The India is now third largest Sector in aviation and today US satellites are launched from India. The country has earned 56 million USDs for launching American Satellites while it earned 220 million Euros from Europe.
He said Railway network in J&K and North East has been given much focus by present Government while J&K is emerging biggest power hub as major three power projects are under construction in Kishtwar district alone at present.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the J&K has to become the part of India’s universal journey. “If we are not able to take up the advantage of what is available to us we can’t blame anybody except ourselves,” he added.
The Union Minister made it clear that present Government is always ready to help its aspirational youth but the initiative has to be taken by them.
He said the per capita income has also doubled under the present Government from last nine years with manifold increase in exports in almost every sector.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also said, the pro-business reforms unleashed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led Government in the last nine years is laying a strong foundation of New India, opening up new vistas for the business community, improving India’s rank in ease of doing business from 142 in 2014 to 63 in 2022, as per World Bank report.
India is now world’s third largest in aviation sector with 147 airports from just 74 in 2014, Dr. Singh added.
