JAMMU, Dec 6: Postmaster General, Col. Vinod Kumar held a meeting with Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism J&K.
During meeting several issues were discussed.
Col. Vinod intimated that Postal Department can release special covers on various places of tourist interest in J&K to enable that information regarding these places may reach across the country.
Vivekanand Rai suggested to release a series of special covers including recently constructed arch bridge on Chenab river between Bakkal and Kauri. He also mentioned that special covers can be released on culture, cuisine, literature and dresses of J&K. Nowadays migratory birds are reaching in big numbers at various locations in Kashmir and places where willow trees are grown may also get space on special covers.
Col. Vinod also informed that as a part of expansion of road transport network this year many routes were identified for RTN and Jammu to Srinagar and Delhi dedicated vehicles are running.
In addition to normal vehicles and to ensure speedy delivery of mail and parcel articles are being dispatched to Ladakh through different airlines including Go Air and Indigo.
He further talked about Book Now Pay Later service, under which senders can dispatch their mail through India Post and customers are eligible for credit facility provided they enter into an agreement with Dept of Posts.
BNPL Bill will be generated on monthly basis by the office of posting by 7th day of the following month and the customer has to pay the amount in full on or before the last day of the month.
Salient features of Express Cargo Service were discussed.
Col. Vinod also suggested that Tourism Department can utilize Media Post service through which it can display information and photographs of different tourist locations inside the walls of the Post Office which can spread huge awareness among the members of public. Director tourism assured that both departments will work in coordination and together provide the best services to the public.
