India Post launches Express Parcel Service in J&K

JAMMU, Dec 2:  In an endeavour to make the delivery of parcels faster and more convenient enabling real time (online) tracking of parcels, the Department of Posts today launched Express Parcel Service in the select cities of country including Jammu.
In Jammu and Kashmir the service was formally launched today by Jagdeep Gupta Director Postal Services Jammu and Kashmir at newly established Express Parcel Centre at Railway Station Jammu.
Express Parcel Service initially has been launched in 20 cities, including  Agra, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi (NCR), Patna, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune, Parwanoo, Shillong, Surat & Thiruvananthapuram.
Express Parcel would be available both for retail customers while Business Parcel would only be available for bulk customers.
Briefing about the new service, Director Postal Services, J&K, Jagdeep Gupta said “Express Parcel is an air express parcel product providing time bound delivery of parcels.  The minimum chargeable weight to be booked is 0.5 Kg while maximum shall be 20 Kg.   Consignments shall be given door delivery. Minimum-maximum weight slab under Business Parcel is 2 to 35 Kg.”
Express Parcel Booking facility has been made available at Gandhi Nagar HO, Jammu Tawi HO and Railway Station PO while Business Parcel for Corporate customers at Srinagar GPO, Jammu Tawi HO, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu Railway Mail Service (Railway Station), Udhampur HO, Rajouri HO, Anantnag HO, Baramulla HO, Leh HO, Katra Post Office, Kud Post Office, S R Gunj and Rainawari PO.
