NEW DELHI, Nov 14:
India has sent a ‘Note Verbale’ to the United Kingdom on the issue of sending back former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi from London as he is facing allegations of financial irregularities here.
“We have sent a Note Verbale late last night informing Britain that the passport of Lalit Modi has been revoked and he is required to be in India for questioning in the economic offence related issues,” official spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Syed Akbaruddin said.
He said that it was after the MEA received a request from the Ministry of Finance to take up with Britain the matter of certain issues that are still pending as regards Lalit Modi’s financial transactions.
Modi, who is facing a probe over alleged financial irregularities in the conduct of T20 cricket tournament, is living in London even though India has revoked his passport. (PTI)
