NEW DELHI : India today summoned Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit, to the External Affairs Ministry here and conveyed strong protests against the release of 26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi by an Islamabad court. During the meeting, Mr Basit was conveyed in “strong terms” India’s protest and told that the decision went against Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism, sources said.
He was told that the decision called into question Pakistan’s entire approach towards terrorism. Mr Basit refused to comment after the meeting at the External Affairs Ministry ended.
Earlier, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad granted bail to Lakhvi saying the prosecution could not prove enough against him.
