NEW DELHI, Oct 29:
India’s National Investigation Agency has unearthed a plot of militant group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen to assassinate Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and topple her Government, official sources said here today.
The sources said New Delhi will supply all the details of the plot hatched by Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen to Bangladesh as sought by its Government.
The plot came to light after two militants were killed in an explosion in West Bengal earlier this month. Police sources said that militants of Bangladeshi were using India as a safe haven to attack the Bangladeshi leadership.
“The larger plan of the militants was to destabilise Bangladesh and to create chaos in the country,” sources said. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval visited the blast site this Monday and apprised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of the new facts.
It is learnt that the same group — Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen — also planned to assassinate Bangladesh opposition leader Khaleda Zia. (AGENCIES)
