India welcomes Nepal’s move to amend constitution

NEW DELHI :  India today welcomed Nepal’s move of carrying out two amendments in the constitution to resolve the political crisis in the country, a day after the Nepalese Parliament passed the legislation with overwhelming majority.
Describing the move as positive, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a statement said,”We regard the two amendments passed yesterday by the Nepalese Parliament as positive developments.
We hope that other outstanding issues are similarly addressed in a constructive spirit.”
The Parliament of Himalayan nation passed the amendments that sought to reach out to Madhesi community which was on streets ever since the constitution was adopted two months ago, bringing normal life to halt with crucial supplies from the Indian side blocked due to the violent protests that left many people dead.  (AGENCIES)
