JANDRAH NAGROTA, Apr 2: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today described the Indian Army as best in the world, saying its valour, discipline and contribution towards defence of the country has all along remained unimpeachable.
“Indian Army is pride of the nation and the political parties should resist the temptation of politicizing its valour for gains”, Rana said while addressing workers meetings at Chalad in Nagola Panchayat, Jandrah and Sanhoo in Dhan Panchayat of the Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
The Provincial President said that the Army has not only been defending the frontiers of the country by offering most valuable sacrifices but also coming to the rescue of the civilians during natural calamities and crucial times of need. He said the indebted nation owes to its armed forces the respect and gratitude it deserves.
Drawing the armed forces in political discourse and debate is akin to belittling its heroism and sense of duty towards the nation, Rana said. He paid tribute to the armed forces for scripting sagas of valour during the past over seven decades and said the nation will always remain indebted to their sacrifices.
Referring to the prevailing political scenario in the State in the backdrop of ongoing election process to Lok Sabha, Rana assailed reactionary politics of the BJP, saying it stands exposed for indulging in rhetoric and making fake promises which were proven during its misrule in partnership with opportunistic PDP for over three years.
“BJP’s divide and rule policy might have worked once but given the prevalent public mood across the Jammu region, it is poised to face rejection at the hands of the dejected voters”, Rana said.
The Provincial President shared his assessment about ground realities and said the people have made up their mind to give a befitting reply to disruptive, opportunistic and dubious forces, which are out to weaken the secular fabric of the State. “We can’t allow disruption in the unity in this land of Saints and Sages that has always stood for peace, amity, harmony and co-existence”, he said, adding that National Conference has nurtured this spirit during most testing times of the history.
“We are carrying forward the legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir that envisages and envisions Jammu and Kashmir as a shinning symbol of brotherhood and harmony”, Rana said and warned those trying to disfigure this glorious feature by generating ill-will between various communities and sections of society. He said the people have made up their mind to teach a lesson to the BJP which trampled their massive mandate and bartered it for getting rehabilitated in the power corridors. Rest, he said will got as dark chapter of the history how BJP jeopradised the interests of the people, retarded growth, halted development and left the people in misery during its misrule.
The Provincial President regretted the road blocks created by the BJP and the PDP in the State’s odyssey to peace and normalcy set in motion by the successive NC led Governments during the past two and half decades and said their myopic politics left deep scars of mistrust among the communities. Instead of picking the thread of development left by the National Conference, the two parties abandoned various projects and schemes for their vested interest. In this process the inclusive character of the state received a big hit, he said, adding, “For restoring peace and reinitiating development, a political change has become all the more necessary”.
He also exhorted the people to come forward in a big way for voting in the parliamentary elections and ensure victory of the Congress candidate Raman Bhalla with huge margin.
