Indian Army, Kargil Admn commemorate 75th anniversary of Yom-e-Fateh

KARGIL, Nov 23: The Forever in Operations Division of the Indian Army collaborated with LAHDC Kargil, District Administration, and Kargil Police, to organize a mega event at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Kargil, commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Yom-e-Fateh—the Liberation of Kargil from Pakistani intruders on November 23, 1948.
Prior to the main event, key dignitaries, including Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, Major General Sachin Malik, YSM, GOC Forever in Operations Division, and Deputy Commissioner Kargil Shrikant Suse, paid homage at the Kargil War Memorial at Helipad Kargil. Wreaths were laid in tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
At the stadium, an impressive march past unfolded, featuring Ladakh Police, NCC cadets, and students from various schools. The Chief Executive Councillor took the salute during this display of discipline and patriotism.

A vibrant ceremony ensued, attended by additional dignitaries, district officers, officials, ex-servicemen, students, and members of civil society.
Cultural programs, including traditional dances by different tribes, captivated the audience. Local rapper Guljabeen Fatima dedicated a rap song to the Indian Army, adding a contemporary touch to the cultural festivities.
A medical camp, integral to the program, catered to a large number of attendees. The event, expressing gratitude to the Indian Army for entering Kargil in 1948, aimed to honor the region’s history and its connection with the armed forces.
CEC Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, the Chief Guest, awarded prizes to winners of competitions held as part of the celebrations.
In his address, he paid heartfelt tributes to soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice and commended the Indian Army for its role in not only safeguarding borders but also contributing to education, healthcare, and disaster management in the region.
The event showcased patriotic songs and featured the symbolic Khukri Dance by units of the Indian Army, highlighting the significant advances made by The First Battalion The Fifth Gorkha Rifles (1/5 GR).
