JAMMU, Sept 29: In its continued endeavour of Indian Cultural Forum to give the musical shape to the couplets of the celebrated and famous poets under the series ‘Galaxy’, Indian Cultural Forum immortalized the couplets of yet another established poet Dr Liaqat Jafri through the magnetizing voices of Sham Sajan, Sargam Pant and Aditya Bhanu.
The programme titled ‘Ali Rang’ mesmerized the audience through the melodic renditions of Liaqat Jafri’s Urdu poetry.
The programme began with welcome address by Sham Sajan, the pioneer of Indian Cultural Forum. Sajan gave an elaborate introduction of this programme series.
The programme was presided over by reputed academician, educationist and scholar Dr Zahoor-ud-Din. Sohail Kazmi, was the chief guest, while Punjabi writer Khalid Hussain was the guest of honour.
Dr Zahoor-ud-Din in his presidential address said that Liaqat has enriched and encouraged Urdu gazals by his thoughtful poetry.
Sohail Kazmi said that despite belonging to down trodden family from Poonch, Jafri has kept the hopes alive to boost up the name of Poonch, which is interestingly affiliated with the legacy of personalities like Krishan Chander, Chirag Hassan Hasrat and Thakur Poonchi.
Khalid Hussain while recalling the days when he was Deputy Commissioner of Poonch said that he had understood the capabilities of Liaqat, when he was a college boy.
“I stressed him to come out in open and avail the opportunities and he kept my works and migrated to Jammu immediately”, said Hussain.
Later, Dr Liaqat Jafri recited his poetry and enthralled the audience, which constituted a galaxy of intellectuals, writers, scholars, poets and personalities.
The programme was compeered by Ravinder Kaul, renowned theatre artists and TV anchor, while Dr Jafri presented vote of thanks.
