JAMMU, Jan 6: Indian Cultural Forum arranged a musical cum literary programme `Seerat Rang-Sumera Rang’, based on the poetry of Surinder Seerat, a Punjabi poet from California, USA and Simrat Sumera, a Punjabi poetess from Batala, Punjab.
The programme was dedicated to Punjabi Gazal and eminent Urdu poet Pritpal Singh Betab presided over the programme. Prof Lalit Magotra, convener Sahitya Academy Delhi was chief guest on the occasion while Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, a Punjabi writer, was special guest and Ajeet Singh Mastana, a Punjabi poet, was guest of honour.
The programme started with a Gazal, sung by Paramjeet Kour Noor from Batala. Rahul Kumar sang another Gazal in Raag Bhinnshadaj. Manju Bala and Jaideep Rattan presented their Gazal in Raag Bhairavi. Satvir Jamwal presented his Gazal in Raag Bairagi-Bhairav. Approva Jamwal presented a Gazal in Raag Pahari, Rabjot Singh Rabbi presented a Gazal in raag Aabhogi Kanhra.
In his welcome address, Sham Sajan, founder president of the Indian Cultural Forum, highlighted the activities and policies of the forum. He also presented a Gazal in Raag Charukeshi.
Kuldeep Kumar accompanied the signer on Table and Amarjeet Singh on violin.
Prof Lalit Magotra, in his address, emphasized that such programmes should be arranged not only in the city but also in rural area.
Ravinder Koul, a well known theaterist and cultural critic, anchored the programme while Gyaneshwar Sharma presented vote of thanks.
