JAMMU, Jan 24: Indian Culture Forum (ICF) under its ‘Galaxy’ series organized Geet Rang, a musical evening at KL Saigal Hall, Jammu, on Sunday.
Prof Reeta Jitendra was the chief guest while Prof Veena Gupta and DC Raina, Senior Advocate, J&K High Court, were the guests of honour. Vijay Singh Sambyal, Station Director, All India Radio, Jammu, was the special guest while Om Goswami presided over the programme.
The event was based upon the poetry of Sahitya Academy awardee Dogri poet, Sita Ram Sapolia of Deyaani (Samba). Seven songs from his latest book ‘Chetain Dee Samhaal’ were presented by the renowned singers of the State.
A musical video album of Rabjot Singh, life member of ICF and a sensational voice in the music field was also released on the occasion.
Professor Lalit Magota, chief patron of the Forum, in his welcome address highlighted the activities of the forum and introduced a vast range of the programmes to be organized by the ICF in near future.
The function started with a song sung by Shyam Manyal in Raag Yaman Kalyan. Manju Bala, a veteran singer, presented a song ‘Lagga Hirkhey Da Rog” in Raag Bhairavi. Rabjot Singh sang a song ‘Us Soun Bani Ni Roye’ in Raag Pahaarhi.
Manju Bala, Gursharan Kour and Apporva Jamwal presented a song in Raag Shobhawari. Sita Ram Sapolia himself recited two of his songs on the demand of the audience. Sham Sajan, president/director of ICF sang a song in Raag Pahari.
The event concluded with vote of thanks by Gyaneshwar Sharma, a renowned Dogri poet.
