Indian democracy

Sir,
Achievement of independence from foreign yolk and adoption of democratic system of Government by our leaders is indeed a unique attainment for which we should be really proud of. The cultural heritage we inhere,  doesn’t allow us to be uncultured. Extreme self-centredness and consequent  malice of corruption taken place in our society causing grievous loss to every  sector undermines true democratic philosophy. Democracy can flourish only when the citizens carry unfailing loyalty, nationalism, patriotism and love for the country. Uncounted scams and embezzlements when come to surface, head of every right thinking person hangs in shame that when persons of high echelons are engaged in such activities. What good can be expected from a lay man.
Success of democracy depends on character of its citizens. Factors like casteism, regionalism communalism and above all corruption prevailing at all corners of the society and at every rung of administration has weakened the democracy. Frequent agitations/Bandhs against wrong doings/failures of Govts adequately establish how the masses are not taken care of. There is no denying the fact that until moral culture is cultivated, possibilities of removing these ills are remote. To strengthen the democracy, love and integrity for the nation  are inescapably needed. Therefore, significance of social and moral values can’t be over emphasised to make our democracy strong and healthy.
Yours etc….
