Indian Navy reaches out to J&K youth

JAMMU,  Oct 19:  Commodore  DS Sodhi, son of the soil from Baramulla, flew all the way from Mumbai to conduct workshop and interactive session with students in the Valley and Jammu region.
He delivered motivational and awareness talks so as to apprise the students about career prospects and way of life in the Indian Navy both at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar the other day and at Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology (MBSCET) Jammu today. Giving a personal example the Commodore motivated the large gathering of students that how after completion of his college education from NIT Srinagar, the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Navy in particular opened new avenues and prospects for him.
The workshop at Jammu had been actively assisted by  Rajni Sahu, Head Training and Placement of MBSCET. The Commodore explained to the budding aspirants about the various  arms in the Indian Navy like General Service, Air and Submarine. The students both young men and women were told about the various options available for career programmes in the various premier educational institutions like IIT which the Indian Navy offers during their service. He also apprised them about the quality of life in the Armed Forces and how they can positively contribute to Nation building.
The officer also apprised the students the role that Indian Navy played during the rescue and relief operations during the last year floods in the Valley.
