Indian soldiers have given befitting reply to Pak: Modi

Amravati, Maharashtra : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Indian soldiers have given a befitting reply to Pakistan over unprovoked firing by the neighbouring nation at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. “Hamare jawano ne Pakistan ka muh band kar diya hai (Indian soldiers have given a befitting reply to Pakistan),” Mr Modi said during an election rally here.
Mr Modi also announced a compensation for those affected in firing by Pakistan.
“Our government will give a compensation to those people who had to leave their homes due to Pakistan firing,” he added. He also slammed the Congress and other opposition parties for doing ‘politics’ over the issue.
“Whenever there is tension on the border, it is not politicians’ speech but a soldier’s trigger that speaks,” the Prime Minister commented.
A war of words had ensued yesterday between the defence establishments of India and Pakistan as the shelling and firing on the border had entered its ninth day, making it the worst ceasefire violation of the decade.
The flare-up has claimed 15 lives and left scores injured so far.
In the sternest ever warning to Pakistan, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley had asked the neighbouring country to stop ‘adventurism’ on the border else be prepared to pay an “unaffordable cost”.
