Indian Yoga reaches Finland

HELSINKI, Sept 7: Indian Yoga finally reaches Finland, the nordic country in Europe.
Thanks to the efforts of Indian Ambassador to Finland Aladiyan Manickam whose endeavors to popularise Yoga here have borne rich fruits.
Manisem Singh, a Yoga teacher from Manipur, India, has been teaching Yóga in Helsinki, the capital of Finland  for the last few months. A lot of interest has been generated among the residents who had only heard of Yoga  but not seen in the practice.
A lot of schoolchildren, young ones and even others apart from the small Indian population have evinced much inetrest in learning  Yoga, the vedic art for smooth life style. This could be
made possible by the efforts of Mr Manickam who feels that the response to it has been more than expected.
Finland, a country of 5.4 million people, has about 5,000 Indians, of which 2,000 have Finland passports while remaining consist of floating population.
Talking to visiting group of Indian journalists last evening´, the Indian Ambassador to Finland said it came as a pleasant surprise to him that so many persons had been attracted to Yoga which was never in the practice before. He said even people were making queries with the embassy about this.
He said the India held a strong place in the heart of Finnish people and popularity of Yoga was an example of this. “The Finnish people are generally fitness freak and adoption of Yoga has been just another form of extension of their physical regime,”  he added.
